James Milholen - American 400m Runner (born June 19th, 1999) is an American Track and Field athlete who competes in the 400 meters and the 200 meters James is a 4x All American and a 3x All-SEC sprinter. He competes for the University of Arkansas. In 2021 he ran a personal best of 45.98 in the open 400m outdoors, and a split of 45.13 indoors. In high school, James was the 2018 Arkansas high school state champion and record holder. He was also an All-American his senior year of high school.[1]

Early Life

Milholen was born in Arkansas to a single mother. Shortly after Milholen was born both he and his mom moved to Colorado, where he would live for his early childhood. When he was 10 he moved back to Arkansas and began playing travel baseball and recreation football. He would continue to play these sports and would later add basketball to the mix when he was in middle school. Milholen did not start running track until he was a freshman in high school. As a freshman in high school, he quit playing basketball and baseball and focused on track and football. Milholen continued to play football along with track until his senior year of high school; however, during his senior year of high school, he only played one sport and that sport was track.[2]

Career

Milholen's high school career featured a personal best of 47.93 in the 400m, 11.15 in the 100m, and 22.54 in the 200m.[3] Thus far in his college career he has personal bests of 45.98 in the 400m, 21.39 in the 200m, and 1:19.84 in the 600m. [4]
