James Healy Jr. (born December 30, 1961) is an American actor, educator, and retired law enforcement officer. He is known for his work in film, television, and theatre as well as his career in policing, where he held the position of Chief of Police.

Early Life

Healy began acting professionally as a teenager. At 15, he signed with his first theatrical agent and, in 1980, made his television debut with a one-line role in the Dallas episode "Who Shot J.R.".

In 1995, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting more actively. His early credits included an ABC Afterschool Special and a guest appearance on NewsRadio, where he worked alongside Phil Hartman. He subsequently appeared on series such as The District, That's So Raven, The Division, Will & Grace, and Judging Amy.[1] He also held a recurring role on the Disney Channel series Even Stevens, starring Shia LaBeouf.[2] Healy played the role of a waiter in That's So Raven.[3]

Career

After retiring from law enforcement in 2016, Healy returned to acting full time. His later television credits include guest roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,[4] Leverage: Redemption,[5] Billions, East New York, Bull, and Manhunt, as well as a six-episode appearance in the limited series A Thousand Tomorrows.[6] On film, he appeared in Dust with Sarah Paulson and in Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), alongside Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.[7] He also collaborated again with longtime friend Lou Diamond Phillips on the television drama Bull and in the independent feature Keep Quiet, which began its festival run in 2024.

Healy played a role in Melancholy Darkness which was shown at the Z-Fest Film Festival.[8] He also performed in the production Good Boy at the Glendale International Film Festival.[9]
