James Gore is a Supervisor with the County of Sonoma and President of the California State Association of Counties.
Background
James graduated from Cal Poly and then served in the United States Peace Corps as an agricultural and natural resources volunteer in Bolivia, South America.
James Gore holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Master’s Degree in Political Management from George Washington University.
Prior to his election to Supervisor, Gore served as the Assistant Chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Natural Resources Conservation Service, a Presidential Appointment position where he led nationwide conservation efforts at the intersection of agriculture, business, and the environment. He led efforts to expand services in persistent poverty areas with underserved communities.
Elected Official Career
Gore was elected to 4th District County Supervisor in November 2014 and reelected in November 2018. The current term began in January 2019 and will end January 2023.
Personal
Gore is fluent in Spanish and Italian. Gore and his wife Elizabeth are raising their two children, Opal and Jacob, in Healdsburg.
