Jade Saab is a Lebanese/Canadian researcher, writer, activist and editor of A Region in Revolt: Mapping the recent uprisings in North Africa and West Asia.

Early life

Saab was born in Montreal, Canada. Shortly after his birth, Saab moved to Beirut, Lebanon with his family and spent his childhood there.[1] In 2014, he moved to Edinburgh, United Kingdom, where he currently resides.[2]

A Region In Revolt

In 2020 Saab published his first book, A Region in Revolt: Mapping the recent uprisings in North Africa and West Asia. The book provides an analysis of the various revolutions, uprisings and protests that took place between 2018 and 2020 in Sudan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon and Iran.[3] The book delves into the socio-economic and political factors driving these revolts, highlighting the shared struggles, aspirations and the roles of the main participants. It offers a critical perspective on the challenges and prospects for lasting change in a region marked by complex geopolitics and social dynamics.[4]

Journalism

Saab has written for numerous publications including The Huffington Post, Rabble, Middle East Monitor, The Turban Times and Renegade Inc. His stories primarily focus on themes such as foreign policy, current affairs and politics across the Middle East, Canada, United States and United Kingdom.[5]
