Jade Catta-Preta is a Brazilian born comic and actress working in Los Angeles, New York, and Brazil. She has been actively working and performing since 2008 to present.

Early Life

Originally born in São Paulo|São Paulo, Brazil in 1984, Catta-Preta moved to Charlottesville, Virginia in 1995. She participated in musical theater in her high school and later attended Emerson College, where she continued to perform as a musical theater major. Catta-Preta graduated in 2007. [1]

Stand Up

In 2008, Catta-Preta began performing stand up at The Belly Room at The Comedy Store, where she worked as a waitress.[2][3] She became the first female employee to begin performing there.

As a stand up comedian, Catta-Preta performs all over the country both in English and Portuguese.[4] Catta-Preta is a fixture at popular Los Angeles comedy clubs, such as The Comedy Store and the Laugh Factory.

In 2022, Catta-Preta released her stand up special, jaded., filmed at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia.[5] This came after 14 years of performing stand up. The special is 45 minutes long and consists of musical comedy as well.[6]

Television Work

In 2015, Catta-Preta became the host of the rebooted talk-show series, The Soup, replacing the former host, Joel McHale.[7] She later became a host and judge for the Hulu dating show, Hotties, where contestants went on a blind date to cook a meal and while trying to handle eating some of the spiciest foods in the world.[8]

In her acting career, Catta-Preta was a series regular on the ABC show Manhattan Love Story. She was also a recurring character on American Housewife, Future Man, Those Who Can’t, The Joey Mac Project, and Californication. In reality television, Catta-Preta was also a series regular on Girl Code, Punk’d, Ladylike, Flashback Friday, and Greatest Ever. She also regularly appeared as a contestant on comedy related shows such as Comedy Knockout and @Midnight. In addition, she can be seen as a guest judge on the Netflix show Cooking with Cannabis.[9][10]

Catta-Preta also appeared as a guest star on numerous hit TV shows, including Life In Pieces, Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls,The Jim Gaffigan Show, Angel From Hell, and Sullivan & Son.[11][12]
