Jacob "Jake" C. Lucé (b. 1989) is an American journalist, former professional baseball outfielder, and founder of Lucé Prospect Group (LPG). He played college baseball for Elon University and subsequently in several professional baseball leagues, and was signed by the Baltimore Orioles organization. Beginning in the 2020s, Lucé became known for representing himself pro se in a series of high-profile lawsuits filed against public and private entities in Texas.

Early life and education

Jacob C. Lucé was born during the summer of 1989 in McKinney, Texas. He attended Allen High School in Allen, Texas, where he played both varsity baseball and football. He later transferred to Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri, before he accepted a baseball scholarship to attend Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. Lucé played two seasons at the NCAA Division I level for the Elon Phoenix and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in New Media Arts and Entertainment with a focus in Broadcast Journalism.

College Career

At Elon University, Lucé was the leadoff hitter and starting left fielder for two years. In the 2011 season, he appeared in 51 games, led the team with 14 doubles, two home runs, and 23 runs batted in (RBI). During the 2012 season, he played in 55 games, with a batting average of .316, 14 doubles, five triples, and 31 RBI.

Professional Career

Lucé's professional baseball career spanned several professional leagues. His journey included winning an American Association championship with the Wichita Wingnuts in 2014, where he was named MVP in the final game of the series. In January 2015, Lucé's contract was purchased by the Baltimore Orioles organization and he was assigned to the Aberdeen IronBirds, but he was released in March 2015 prior to the season's start.[1] He subsequently returned to professional baseball, playing for numerous teams. He continued to play through the 2021 season with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League.

Lucé Prospect Group (LPG)

In 2014, Jacob C. Lucé founded Lucé Prospect Group (LPG), an organization focused on the development of high school athletes and assisting them with the college recruiting process. Lucé is the Founder and CEO.[2]

Journalism

In 2025, Lucé began publishing articles as a journalist on the online platform Medium.[3] Lucé distributes his articles on social media platforms including X, LinkedIn, Threads, and Bluesky, where he has built a following for his work.
