Jacob Kmatz (born September 28, 2002) is an American college baseball pitcher for the Oregon State Beavers.

Career

Kmatz attended Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.[1] He committed to play college baseball at Oregon State University as a sophomore.[1] As a junior in 2020, he was selected as the New Mexico preseason player of the year.[2] As a senior in 2021, he went 9-0 with a 0.95 ERA and 72 strikeouts over 44 innings.[2] He threw a Perfect game (baseball) in 2021, only the 4th perfect game in New Mexico high school baseball history.[3] He went unselected in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft and enrolled at Oregon State to play college baseball.

In 2022, Kmatz’s freshman year at Oregon State, he made 16 appearances, 15 of them starts. He went 8-2 with a 4.19 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 77 innings pitched. Kmatz was a freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper,[4] as well as earning Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention.[5]
