Activity

CEO of Strategy& Future[5], author of bestselling books, including “Pacyfik i Eurazja. O Wojnie” (Pacific and Eurasia. On War (2016)[6], which focuses on the ongoing great power competition in Eurasia and the possible war in the Western Pacific, as well as ”Rzeczpospolita między Lądem a Morzem. O wojnie i pokoju. (Poland and Intermarium between the Land and the Sea Powers (2018)[7], which deals with the geostrategic reality Poland and Europe face in the era of great power competition, and is an in-depth study of the Central Eastern European theater of war and the modern warfare including the Revolution in Military Affairs. Both of his works are bestsellers in Poland and are now awaiting publication in English and German, and other languages.

Jacek is a Senior Fellow at the D.C. based Potomac Foundation[8], Director of Wargaming & Simulations Program at the Casimir Pulaski Foundation[9], co-founder of Play of Battle – a wargaming and simulation games studio[10]. In 2017-2018 a member of the Advisory Team to the Government Plenipotentiary for the Central Communication Port. On August 19, 2018, he was appointed by Mikołaj Wild as the president of a special purpose vehicle for the construction of the Central Communication Port. In February 19, 2019 resigned from this function[13].

He runs a channel on YouTube, where he publishes his lectures on geopolitics and geostrategy and interviews with experts[14].

Criticism

Bartosiak is described as an interesting[15] and brilliant writer who enriches the Polish debate[16]. His work also meets criticism of the scientific community. For instance, Michał Lubina defines Bartosiak's journalism with geopoliticalism, which he defines as "the perception of all spheres of political life through the prism of geopolitics"[17].

In his reflections, Bartosiak allegedly overlooks the existence of the European Union[18]. In journalism, Bartosiak uncritically adopts traditional, nineteenth-century Darwinist geopolitical concepts (Halford Mackinder, Alfred Mahan, Rudolf Kjellén), apart from their subsequent undermining in the science of international relations, and the fact that most of those ideas were intended to justify the imperialist policies of the powers of the time, including the expansion of the Third Reich (Friedrich Ratzel, Karl Haushofer)[19].
