Fictional Themes

J.T. Patten's fictional works are within the same Thriller (genre)|thriller and techno-thriller genre as published authors Dalton Fury, Ralph Peters, Dan Brown, Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, Mark Greaney (novelist)|Mark Greaney, and Brad Taylor, with Patten's being described by Fury in a book blurb as "blacker than black" due to many of Patten's characters created with dark and brooding anti-social behaviors, and many characterized as having Posttraumatic stress disorder from repeated high-stress overseas deployments.[36][37][38][39][40] Patten's writing style is contrary to traditional protagonists in his literary character arc highlighting changes based on fallibility, failed family balance, psychological trauma, and moments of self-doubt.

His Sean Havens series is being re-released after acquisition from Force Poseidon Publishing.[41] He is also listed as a List_of_techno-thriller_novels|techno-thriller novelist.
