Ivan Vasylchuk (born September 26, 1984) - Ukrainian sambo wrestler, judoka, world champion in Sambo, champion of the World Martial Arts Games. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Europe Champion, BJJ brown belt, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in Sambo, Master of Sports in Judo, Sambo Videoblogger.1

Early life

Ivan Vasylchuk was born in the village of Kolodiivka, Koretsky district, Rivne region, in a family of workers. In his early years, his father Yuriy's worked as a locksmith at Khao NPP, and in the last years of his life he had his own taxi service in the city of Netishyn, Yuriy died on February 23, 2016. Ivan's mother Galina worked at an oil refinery, then as a technician, and has been unemployed for the past few years.

In 1988, together with his family, he moved to the city of Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi region, where in 1992 he enrolled in the sambo-judo section under the guidance of Yuri Ivanovich Savchuk. In 1996, he transferred to the Honored Coach of Ukraine Hennadiy Vasyliovych Horokhov. He won the first gold medal from the championship of Ukraine among cadets in 1999, and in 2001 he received the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine (black belt).

In 2002, he graduated from school and entered the Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs, which he graduated in 2006. During his studies, he won a silver medal at the Youth World Championship in Serbia (2002), and in 2006 he became the silver medalist of the European Adult Championship and received the title of Master of Sports of the International Class. In 2006, he entered the university for the second time (Khmelnytskyi National University), during his studies he became a bronze medalist of the European Championship in 2007, and a silver medalist of the World Championship in 2009. In the same 2009, he won a bronze award at the Ukrainian judo championship and received the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine in judo (black belt).

During the years of study, he expresses great gratitude for the help and support of his curators Yevhenii Mykhailovych and Vera Hnativna Svirgunets. In 2011, he graduated from KhNU and received the specialty trainer-teacher and physical rehabilitation therapist.

All this time until 2018, he lived in the city of Netishyn.

Professional career

Ivan's sports career began in the Ukrainian town of Netishin, at the sports school of the KDYUSSH. His coaches were Savchuk Yuriy Ivanovich and Honored Coach of Ukraine Gorokhov Gennadiy Vasilyevich.

In 2002, while studying in the first year of NAVSU, he went to Yugoslavia and became the silver medalist of the Sambo World Youth Championship [2].

At the Sambo European Championships in Russia in 2012, he won a bronze medal in 90 kg category.

In 2013, he won a bronze medal at the Sambo European Championships in Italy.

Bloger career

Knowing that he will not be able to feed his family on the coaching salary, Ivan buys a YouTube blogging course in December 2016. Before starting his studies, Ivan did not have a smartphone, let alone an understanding of YouTube and social networks. The first video on the YouTube channel "Ivan Vasylchuk. The power of the parterre" is released on March 1, 2017. By 2023, Ivan has already recorded more than 800 sports-related videos, mainly training videos for coaches and athletes. In 2023, Ivan has three YouTube channels in three languages: English - 87 thousand subscribers, Ukrainian - 138 thousand subscribers, Spanish - 13 thousand subscribers. Also, Ivan has two Instagram accounts in English @ivanvasylchuk_sp and Ukrainian @ivan_vasylchuk, the total number of followers on Instagram and YouTube by 2023 is about 300 thousand.

In October 2017, Mykola Petrenko invited Ivan to Cherkasy for Ivan's first seminar for sambo wrestlers, judokas and BJJ practitioners, and from that moment Ivan began to be invited to hold training seminars for coaches and athletes all over the world. For 6 and a half years, Ivan has already held 87 seminars in such countries as: USA, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Poland.

In 2018, he recorded his first training video course Armbar, currently Ivan has 14 online courses, 8 of them translated into English and one into Spanish. His courses are sold on the most popular online platforms among wrestlers.

Personal life

In 2009 Ivan got married, Wife: Maryna Serhiivna Vasylchuk. In 2010 his daughter Valeria was born, and in 2012 his son Makar.

In July 2018, he decided to move with his family to a permanent place of residence in Spain, where he still lives, in the province of Malaga, in the city of Estepona. In Spain, he has his own wrestling gym where he trains children in Judo, and also conducts private training for Sambo, Judo and Brazylian jiu-jitsu fighters who come to him from all over the world.
