Ivan Olegovich Ustinov (born on January 16, 1991 in Polevskoy) is a Russian cinematographer, producer, director, founder and creative director of the advertising agency VILKA.
Biography
Ivan Olegovich Ustinov was born on January 16, 1991 in Polevskoy. His father is Oleg Yurievich Ustinov and his mother is Olga Leonidovna Ustinova. In 2008, he graduated from School No. 56 in Artemovsky, Sverdlovsk region. In 2013, he graduated from the Ural Federal University with a degree in "Machines and technologies for pressure metal processing". In the same year, he completed professional training courses in economics and enterprise management, and received a diploma specializing in "Legal regulation of enterprise activities".
From his second year of university studies, Ivan started working as a cameraman for the student TV channel TViST, where he filmed news stories about the university and the city. In 2011, he met Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi who visited Yekaterinburg during the preparation of his play "The King is Dying" at the Sverdlovsk Drama Theatre. Ivan went to Poland for film production training on the invitation of the director in the summer of 2011.
After an internship on the set of the Polish film "Sep" by director Eugeniusz Korin, Ivan joined the production of the mini-series "My Faraway Carriage" as an assistant director to Valery Kharchenko.
In 2012, Ivan started working with the Yekaterinburg studio Big Bag Films, and in close collaboration with them, he directed his first short film, "The Tree of Happiness".[1] The film won the Best Fiction award at the AniFestROZAFA festival in Albania and the Silver Prize for Best Short Film at the International Short Film Festival of Torrelavega in Spain. Ivan said about the film: "We just want to draw attention to children who have ended up in an orphanage due to fate."
Also in 2012, Ivan was selected to join Adore Creative's film crew, headed by director Rupert Wayne Wright, and participated in the filming of a bid film for EXPO-2020 in Yekaterinburg. The filming took place in Mongolia, Indonesia, and Namibia.
In 2013, Ivan moved to Moscow and began developing BigBagFilms' Moscow office, working on advertising and cinema.
In 2014, he worked as a director and editor on two series for NTV, "Resort Police" and "Meteorite."
That same year, Ivan met director and screenwriter Igor Kagramanov and began working as a camera operator and director for the short film "Mashka"[2]
In 2015, Ivan founded the company "White Wolf Pictures" and launched a video production company under the brand "VILKA." That year, he also began working as an independent producer and advertising director.
In 2016, continuing his collaboration with Igor Kagramanov, Ivan produced and directed the short film "Inside the box"[3] with Pavel Derevyanko. The film, a comedic drama about the underside of the filmmaking process, caused a public stir before its official premiere when a video was released showing Derevyanko losing his temper during filming and breaking a microphone. The video garnered tens of thousands of views. Later, the film competed for the Kinotavr award for Best Short Film and became the flagship of two collections, "Kinotavr Shorts"[4] and "Za kulisami"[5] Ivan received two awards for his work as a camera operator on the film.
In 2017, Ivan attracted investments from the German company Convotherm and produced the full-length documentary film "Yes, Chef!"[6] directed by Olga Pankratova. The film tells the story of the difficult path to European fame for Russian chef Arthur Ovchinnikov. The film was shot in Russia, Estonia, and Hungary, and was jointly produced by White Wolf Pictures and Masterpease Pro. The film's international distributor was Indie Rights, which presented the film at the American cinema market. Later, the film became available for viewing on the Amazone Prime Video platform.
In 2018, Ivan worked as a camera operator and director for Igor Kagramanov's full-length debut film, "Pust budet Liza"[7] which brought Ivan the Best Cinematography award at the XII Cheboksary International Film Festival.
In 2019-2020, he studied at the BBDO Wordshop School of Communications in the Communication Strategy and Media Planning program.
In 2020, Ivan participated as a camera operator and director in the filming of the film "Statement"[8] (dir. Yulia Belaya) with Yuri Kolokolnikov in the lead role. The film competed at the Kinotavr Film Festival.

Since 2016, he has been married to Natalya Malykh and has two daughters (Maria and Alexandrina).
