Ira Glass is a post-hardcore band from Chicago. Their name is taken from WBEZ radio host Ira Glass.[1] Their first release, “demo” was published on 22 July 2023, which was described by Chicago Reader music critic Leor Galil as “forthright and moody.”[2] The band also drew attention from Stereogum, which noted their “prevailing aesthetic is ominous, discordant post-hardcore so volatile it can hardly be contained.”[3] Their second release, “demo ii” was released 8 January 2024, to positive critical acclaim.[4] Described as a “new vision of Chicago underground rock,” they have since become the city’s preeminent post-hardcore band. Lead songwriter Lise Ivanova described being jaded with punk, and drawn to the post-hardcore genre because “I was looking for something more extreme or interesting.”
