Innocent Nwobu (born July 26, 1971) is a Nigerian film producer, writer, publisher, digital creator, farmer, politician and humanitarian. He comes from Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.[1][2]
Nwobu's interests in agriculture and farming leads him to acquire property to drive his vision for job creation.[3] In 2017 Nwobu, as a farmer and working with the assistance of FADAMA III programme in Awka, Anambra State moved to achieve a reduction in the prevalence of food scarcity in the state. Innocent Nwobu engaged people for crop planting and to ensure bumper harvests[4]. In 2019, Innocent Nwobu among other Awka residents decried high costs of foodstuff. He called for help from the Anambra State government to assist farmers transport their produce to the mainland without paying much, so as to cushion their challenges and bring about a reduction in the high costs of foodstuff experienced in the state[5]
As a political leader in March 2022, Nwobi noted the quality credentials of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his electoral promises to the people of Anambra State. He urged the new Governor to focus on solving major challenges that provide good governance and make people happy.[6]
Innocent Nwobu has been described as a man with boundless humanitarian gestures. In 2021, he secured a partnership with the Imo State government and engaged 1000 unemployed youths of Imo origin for empowerment in the fields of film making, film distribution and digital creation. Nwobu offers scholarship to less privileged brilliant children and youths in both Nigeria and in Ghana. In Awka, Nwobu builds and equips houses for poor persons, while helping others to complete their unfinished houses. Nwobu has received several accolades and commendations for his humanitarianism.[7]
Born Innocent Chukwujekwu Nwobu in Umuogwali Community in Awka South LGA of Anambra State, the business tycoon is married to Mrs. Dorathy Obioma Nwobu and they are blessed with children. Nwobu is an extensive traveler and speaks Igbo, English, Hausa and Tiv fluently. His hobbies are taking vacations and seeing other people around him happy.[8]
Nwobu was in 2022 admitted into the prestigious Ajalija traditional group, and was conferred with the title of Umunna Nwezuoaku (meaning: I wish all my kinsmen to be prosperous).[9]
