Impressions is a mobile application for iOS and developed by San Francisco-based company Synthesized Media Inc. which uses deepfake technology to automatically generate highly realistic face swaps in videos.[1] The app can transform a face in a video to make it look like the face of any celebrity available in the app.[1] Impressions was launched on iOS to a limited release in February 2020 and globally in March 2020.[1][2]

As of April 2020, the application sends all videos to the cloud to be processed on high-end GPUs mobile device hardware is not yet capable of completing the graphically intensive task.[3] The application uses proprietary algorithms to deliver deepfake results back to the user in just a few minutes.[3]
