Ileen Gallagher is an exhibition designer, curator, and project manager based in New York City. [1] She is known for unique, creating immersive exhibitions about significant influences in popular culture. After graduating from UC Berkeley and earning her advanced degree from John F Kennedy University, she went on as a curator for the De Young Museum in San Francisco, the Queens Museum of Art in New York City, the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota. She then assumed the role of Director of Exhibitions at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio for five years, initiating the Hall of Fame's world renowned exhibitions. In 1999, she started her own company, ISG Productions, creating memorable exhibitions for The Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco, numerous Harley-Davidson anniversaries in Milwaukee [2], and the international show Rolling Stones: Exhibitionism which celebrated 60 years of the band. [3] [4] [5] [6] She taught for 12 years in the graduate museum studies program at New York University, mentoring hundreds of young curators. [7] In 2022, she created an exhibit for the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU, celebrating the music producer's storied career.

After her success with the Rolling Stones Exhibitionism Exhibit, she was approached by the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat to create an immersive exhibit honoring his legacy. The show was to be an intimate immersive experience that was told from the family's perspective. In April 2022, the show opened at the Starret-Lehigh Building in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.[8] [9]
