Ifty Nasir is a British entrepreneur and business leader. He is the founder and CEO of Vestd, the sharetech platform.[1][2] Nasir held senior leadership roles in the global energy sector before transitioning into the technology and startup ecosystem.[3][4][5]
Early Life and Education
Nasir was born in Bradford, England and is a graduate of Stanford University Graduate School of Business.[6][7]
Career in the Energy Sector
Nasir started working for BP in 1988 as a Development Chemist and in 2006, became Vice President of Group Business Development. His work spanned multiple regions, including Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and the Caspian.[8][9] In 2008, Nasir joined Essar Energy, where he served as Executive Director and was later CEO of Essar Energy's Exploration & Production division.[10][11]
Entrepreneurial Ventures
In 2014, Nasir co-founded Vestd with Naveed Akram. Vestd was established to simplify equity sharing within companies, aiming to promote team loyalty, commitment, and collaboration among stakeholders.[12]
Advocacy and Philosophy
Nasir is an advocate of the 'Ownership Effect',[13][14] and believes that when employees have a stake in the company, it leads to increased motivation and better business outcomes. He has been vocal about democratizing equity ownership and has worked towards making share schemes accessible to a broader range of businesses.[15][16][17][18]
