Ibijoke Faborode

Ibijoke Faborode is a Nigerian gender advocate. She is the co-founder and the chief executive officer of ElectHER[1][2] a non-governmental organization that calls for women's participation in politics. In 2022, she was listed among the 100 influential women by BBC News.[3]

Early life

She was born in Ile-Ife Osun State. She grew up in a university environment Obafemi Awolowo University[4] where her father Micheal Faborode was a university lecturer.

Education

She obtained her bachelor's degree in history and international relations at Obafemi Awolowo University. She obtained her second degree in project management with area of specialization on development and she is currently doing her second master's degree on social business and entrepreneur at London School of Economics.[4]

Career

She has served as the Head of Agritech and Healthcare Advisory, West Africa with the United Kingdom department of International Trade.[5] In a pan-African based media group Jeune Afrique, she served as the Regional Business Development Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Awards and nominations

In the year 2019, she was one of the One Young World Dutch Scholar[6]. In 2019, She was nominated for Future Awards Africa Prize for Public Service[7]. In 2022, she was part of 60 women awarded for leading development in Africa[8]. She was among the 100 influential women listed by BBC News in 2022[9]
