Ian Todd is a Canadian political staffer, diplomat, and executive. He currently serves as Chief of Staff to Pierre Poilievre, the Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition.
Early Life
Ian Todd was born in Calgary, Alberta and later attended the University of Calgary. In 1987 he became a founding member of the Reform Party of Canada and in 1993 he served as the Executive Assistant to then leader Preston Manning. In this role he managed tour logistics and election campaigns.[1]
Career
Ian Todd is a Canadian political staffer currently serving as Chief of Staff to Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition. As the Chief of Staff to Pierre Poilievre In his role as Chief of Staff, Todd is responsible for overseeing policy development, communications, and political strategy for the Leader of the Opposition. He plays a central role in managing the Conservative caucus, parliamentary affairs, and election preparations ahead of the next federal election. He has held this position since September 2022.[2]
In 2018 Ian was appointed by Ontario Premier Doug Ford and assumed the Canadian diplomatic post to serve as Ontario's Representative to the United States based at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. In his role as Ontario's trade representative he promoted business, trade and investment on both sides of the border while also serving as special adviser to the Premier.[3]
Beyond politics Ian Todd has held different management rolls in the private sector, serving as Enmax Corp. vice-president of government and media relations.[4]
