Isaiah David Leonard (born December 15th, 1992) better known by his stage name iDeaL Minded, or just iD, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. He released his debut album Sunshine Mindstate in 2014.

He started gaining local traction by the time he put out his second and third Albums Miscommunication in 2015 and Seasons in 2017. iD is currently an independent artist. iDeaL is the founder of the independent group known as Spoken Spittas.

iDeaL has been apart of the hip hop community in other cities such as Albuquerque, Chicago, and New York City, and Miami. He has also opened up for acts such as Big Buzz, Baeza, and Afro Man. iD has had multiple singles out in addition to his album releases. His single Too Many Tears has appeared on Chicago BMS radio

Early life

Isaiah Leonard was born in 1992 in Naples, Florida. iD grew up living his early childhood in Florida while traveling frequently to New Mexico and New York. His mother is from Chicago and his Father is from D.C. Even though Isaiah grew up in a quiet town, he has always had a tendency to venture to other cities for inspiration. He grew up in a single parent home and moved around a lot.

iD started singing when he was six years old in his church choir. From there he proceeded to play drums through middle school, and eventually would join his high school chorus group. He traveled to New York City with his chorus group, where he performed a solo song at Trump towers, as well as a variety of group songs at Churches, and other venues while there. This was an important time for inspiration for iD.

iDeaL Minded wrote his first rap when he was 17 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. iD was Influenced by a wide arrangement of artist such as Michael Jackson, Notorious B.I.G., Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Linkin Park. Isaiah First recorded using a snowball recording mic and the free version of FL studio. iD's cousin was a big help in pushing him into his rap career.

Career

2010 - 2011 First Phase/Mixtape:

iDeaL Minded wrote, recorded, and released his first mixtape Citrus Hall, in 7 days, with the help of his cousin Dylan Leonard. It was released through datpiff. He went under the name iDeaL.

2012 - 2014 Sunshine Mindstate

iDeaL spent most of 2012 using rap as a hobby after he was done with classes at UCF in Orlando. The Album was finished by the end of 2013 and iD recorded and released through his own label Spoken Spittas. iDeaL dropped Sunshine Mindstate September 14, 2014.

2015 Miscommunication

Shortly after the release of his first album, iDeaL wanted to keep his momentum going. Without hesitation, he wrote and recorded Miscommunication a self explanatory album. This was also the album where his name changed from iDeaL to iDeaL Minded. Released Mid 2015.

2016-2017 Seasons

Isaiah had gone through a writer's block spell for some time, however that did not stop him from coming back and recording Seasons His third and strongest album released. With chill intellectual, introspective bars, iDeaL set himself comfortably in his community as a contender for hip hop.

He released his song Amazing on that album produced by none other than K- Beats. This was a turning point in music quality for iD. He really had to give credit to the engineer and fellow Floridian Kevin Carbo for help with his albums. Capi not only helped record, but executively mixed for every album and even produced some beats throughout.

2019 - 2020 Singles/Unfinished Mixtapes

iDeaL Minded released a few unofficial singles in 2018 with fellow rapper Nicholas Lutz. After a few collars, the two artists started performing around Southwest Florida together. There was talk of a new mixtape Pizza & Chicken Nuggets to be released from the two, but singles were dropped instead. One of which caught a buzz, called Writer's Block. But the two never released the mixtape.

iDeaL went on to release a number of singles from the end of 2019 into the rest of 2020. His newest single hit the radio and is called T.M.T. The subject matter has to deal with racial inequality that some Americans face. There is an anticipated LP supposedly arriving at the end of 2020.

Events & Milestones

Afroman

iD has definitely left an imprint in his career so far and plans on making many more milestones. One of his most memorable moments was touring with Afroman. He was asked to open in a local bar near Marco Island, FL from fellow SWFL artists SOWFLO. After his performance, he was approached by Afroman's management to do more shows through FL.

New York

New York City is a place that iDeaL holds close to his heart. This city has helped influence and shape him as a rapper through the years. One memorable milestone came for iDeaL June of 2018. iDeaL flew out to the Bronx to stay with family, and journeyed over to queens to enter a contest hosted by a Bad Boy Record's Producer by the name of Antwon Thompson better known by his producer name Amadeus. iD ended up winning an exclusive beat from the producer which has yet to be released.
