Jordi (also known as iAmJordi, born May 28, 2003) is an American social-media influencer, model, dancer, and singer-songwriter. At the age of 17, she gained recognition on her YouTube channel with her popular web series "Song Lyric Text Pranks". Jordi signed with Sound Factory Records[1] in 2021, debuting with her single "Hate You" in 2022. She then released her singles "Just a Friend", "My Problem", and "Enough for Me" in 2023.
Early Life
Jordi was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, May 28, 2003[2]. Although there is not much information on her parents, it is known that her father is a businessman while her mother takes care of their home. When Jordi was at the young age of five, she began to showcase her talent on stage. She started singing at the age of nine, with it being a hobby, and took it more serious when she was eleven.
2017-2021: Social Media Career
Joining YouTube on February 18, 2017, and joining TikTok during its early stages in 2018, her content has primarily been comedy based videos. In 2020, she started her series "Song Lyric Text Pranks", a series based on texting lyrics to her crushes and seeing their reactions. The first upload of the series gained over 3.5 million views, gaining her wider recognition online. She was encouraged to upload more videos. From 2020-2022, she uploaded more videos to her series, with notable videos including "LYRIC TEXT PRANK ON MY CRUSH (HE ASKED ME OUT??!) TATE MCRAE ~ WHAT WOULD YOU DO" which has amassed over 1.9 million views, and "SONG LYRIC TEXT PRANK ON MY TIKTOK CRUSH!!! (I REGRET THIS) DRIVERS LICENSE BY OLIVIA RODRIGO" which has gained over 1.7 million views.
In 2019, she uploaded her first YouTube video, which was a cover of the song "Dancing On My Own" by Calum Scott. Although originally the first video was a cover of a Bruno Mars song, it is no longer available on the video platform.
In 2020, she started posting TikToks and has amassed over 10 million followers on the short-video based platform. Once in a while, she would post singing covers, but would mostly post comedy based videos.
2022: Music Career Begins
With the covers Jordi uploaded online, she caught the attention of Sound Factory Records, a small record label located in Los Angeles[3]. After signing a deal with them, she moved to L.A. to work in the studio and debuted with her single "Hate You" on November 18, 2022, which has gained over 11 million streams on Spotify. Later the next year, she released three more singles: "Just a Friend", "My Problem", and "Enough for Me". She also released a piano version of "Hate You" on February 14, 2023.
2023: The Release of Her First Few Singles
Following the release of her debut single, she released "Just a Friend" on August 25, 2023, which has accumulated over 3 million streams on Spotify. She then released "My Problem" on October 27, 2023, and "Enough for Me" on December 1, 2023. "My Problem" and "Enough for Me" both have over a million streams. Overall, Jordi has accumulated over 18 million streams. She currently has 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
