Huang Renjun (Chinese: 黄仁俊, born on March 23, 2000)[1], known mononymously as Renjun is a Chinese singer and dancer.[2] He was born in Jilin City, Jilin Province, China[3] and is of Chinese ethnicity. Renjun is a member of the South Korean boy group NCT under SM Entertainment, where he serves as a main vocalist[4]and lead dancer. He made his debut in August 2016 as part of the subunit NCT Dream.
Early life
Renjun was born on March 23, 2000, in Jilin Province, China[3] as an only child.[5][6] Due to his interest and the part of China he stays in, he has had exposure to Korean language and Korean culture from a young age. [3][7] He attended Jilin Korean Ethnic Middle School,[8]and after his debut, Renjun and fellow NCT Dream group member Chenle and enrolled at Beijing Contemporary Music Academy High School as part of the Class of 2017.[9]The song "New Beginning" was created as part of their school project.[10]
Career
Renjun became a trainee under SM Entertainment in 2015.[3]
On August 21, 2016, Renjun's individual concept photo for NCT's third subunit, NCT Dream, was released, signalling the group's upcoming debut. Renjun made his first appearance.[11] On August 25, he debuted with the group on Mnet's M! Countdown with the single "Chewing Gum," officially debuting in South Korea.[12]
