Hotel! is a 2001 TV spoof comedy movie made by Tiger Aspect as well as January Productions and was originally broadcast on Channel 5 on 18 February 2001.[1][2][3] Starring Paul McGann, Keeley Hawes, Peter Capaldi and Lee Majors, a group of terrorists take over a hotel, by holding everyone hostage including the president of the United States.[4]
Plot
An Air Force One plane carrying the President of the United States end up in trouble when they start running low on fuel, but then the Little Ashford Flying Club airport company then contact them and ask what the problem is. The pilot of the plane tells them that there running low on fuel and that they need to land. The pilot then tell the Little Ashford Flying Club airport company that he's a friend of Dave’s then the Little Ashford Flying Club airport company then decide that they can land. The plane ends up landing in a small English village and while there the President of the United States books into a hotel near by. While at the hotel Ben Carter one of the employees that works there is getting sick of Hilton Gilfoyle the manager taking him for granted, but when Hilton Gilfoyle revels to him that he's in love with his special someone Tricia, Ben Carter decides to quit his job. However though once he leaves Radochek Zeigler and his sidekick Velma Sneider who are both territories break in the hotel with there gang and hold the President of the United States and all the guests of the hotel hostage. Ben Carter then regrets what he did and decides to go back, but once he finds out everyone is being held hostage he runs to go and get the police. Once he arrives back at the hotel with the police officer he sneaks in the hotel to try and save the guests and Tricia until all the police crew have arrived. However though Radochek Zeigler then escapes with Tricia as his hostage, but Ben Carter chases after him and once he reaches them he shoots and kills Radochek Zeigler. Tricia is saved and so is everyone in the hotel. Velma Sneider and all the territories who where involved in the gang get arrested as well as the photographer who was taking pictures of the events that happened inside the hotel while the guests were being held hostage as it turned she was actually a man criminal in disguise. The President of the United States is able to leave the hotel, the guests are all safe and Ben Carter falls in love with Tricia.

Release
The movie was first broadcast on 18 February 2001 on Channel 5 by Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited.[5] While the film has not been released on DVD the film is however available for public viewing at the British Film Institute.[6]
Critical reception
The movie received mixed feedback from critics. Andy Webb on The Movie Scene gave the movie 2 stars out of 5 and said in his review "The sad thing is that the writing is not all bad but the delivery is completely off and it is that which ruins the movie".[7] Another critic Toby Saunders gave the movie 26/100 and said in his review "Would say don’t bother, but hey, I’m feeling generous".[8] DigiGuide gave the movie 3 stars out of 5.[9]
