Hillary Rosner is an American science journalist who writes about environmental issues. Her stories have appeared in many publications, including National Geographic, The Atlantic, Wired, The New York Times, Men's Journal, High Country News, bioGraphic, and Audubon. She is also the assistant director of the Center for Environmental Journalism[1] at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she is on the journalism faculty. She is at work on a book about wildlife connectivity.

Awards

Rosner has received several awards for her work, including two Kavli Science Journalism Awards[2] from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The first was for the story “One Tough Sucker[3],” which ran in High Country News[4] in 2010. The second was for "Attack of the Mutant Pupfish[5]," which ran in Wired Magazine[6] in 2012. That story also won the Outstanding Feature Story Award[7] from the Society for Environmental Journalists[8]. She has also won a Science in Society Award from the National Association of Science Writers[9] for “The Color of Bunny[10],” which was published in High Country News in 2012.

Early life, education, and career

Rosner grew up in New York City. She graduated from Wesleyan University, majoring in American Studies. She later earned an MFA in creative writing from New York University, and an MS in environmental studies from the University of Colorado. She started her career working at The New York Post and then spent several years at The Village Voice, where she was a senior editor. She worked at several pioneering websites, including Feed Magazine and Inside.com, and was a contributing editor at New York Magazine.
