Hesham El-Askary (Arabic: هشام العسكري) is an Egyptian researcher, speaker, author,[1][2] and professor.[3] He is a Remote Sensing and Earth System Science Professor, Director of the Earth Systems Science and Data Solutions Lab at Chapman University, USA.[4][5][6][7]
He the founder and CEO of GeoAct Inc., an earth observation consultancy.
Career
Since 2005, El-Askary has been a part-time Consultant at the National Authority of Remote Sensing and Space Science (NARSS), Cairo, Egypt, since 2005. El-Askary worked as an Assistant Professor of Earth System Science and Remote Sensing at Chapman University from 2008 to 2011. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011 and has been serving as a Professor at Chapman University since 2016.[4][5]
In 2020, he served as the regional coordinator on a €3 million grant from the European Union's (EU) Horizon 2020.
Prof. El-Askary was also invited by the UN secretariat to the COP14 meeting in New Delhi to present on the sand and dust storms side event and to be part of the global sand and dust storms coalition.
