Rudel H Iznaga (born 16 March 1998) better known as Heri Iznaga is a Cuban-American singer-songwriter and music producer. Iznaga specializes in Dance-Pop and Electronic Dance Music and is best known musically for his songs Dancing in the Mirror and Time.[1]

Iznaga is regarded as one of the fastest-growing musical artists in America, known for his unique blend of soft, soothing, and powerful tones with indie dance, synth-pop, electronic, and futurist elements in his songs. Iznaga’s songs are a reflection of his personal experiences, which is one of the key elements that distinguish him from the other pop artists. With his artistic pursuits, Iznaga aims to go beyond the traditional music production playbook to create a unique position in the industry.[2]

Iznaga has even received a generous fan following for his popular song covers which, along with his original songs, are available on all streaming platforms. He has been featured in several media outlets like Music Industry Weekly, Miami Wire, Gas Mask Magazine, and French radio station Frequency 8.

Early life and education

Iznaga was born in Trinidad, Cuba, on March 16, 1998, to Ruben Iznaga and Anaisa Oliva. His mother was an entrepreneur, owner of a private restaurant, and nurse, and his father was a bartender at a local hotel at the time. To make ends meet, his mother worked three jobs, but in order to take care of his grandfather as well as lessen the burden on his mother, he moved in with his grandparents at the age of 2. Iznaga grew up with an older sister as his parents got divorced when he was two years old.

Later, Iznaga, with his sister, mother, and step-father, migrated to the U.S., where he began pursuing his artistic talents. He began drawing and painting by taking inspiration from his uncle's paintings and even earned 1st place as part of middle school's national drawing competition. He then decided to study drawing professionally when he was eight years old. Soon, finding solace in music, Iznaga also started taking guitar and piano lessons.

Career

Iznaga began his music career by uploading videos to his YouTube channel, where he ultimately earned the necessary exposure with his covers of popular songs. His collaboration with Singer-Songwriter Paola Guanche on the "Beauty and the Beast" cover song for the 2017 film adaptation gained much acclaim on the internet. This newfound popularity resulted in him getting a lead role on the musical Radio Rock N' Roll for the local yet popular Alfaro's NightClub in Miami, FL.

To further his career in the music industry, Iznaga began learning the ropes of music production in 2016 and three years later released his debut EP State of Flux. Later in the same year, Iznaga got the opportunity of a solo trip to Iceland for filming his very first music video ever for the single "Dancing in the Mirror.” This song acted as a major stepping stone in Iznaga’s success and earned him mass public recognition with featured in several local media outlets.[3]

Iznaga’s recent release, Time is a CyberPunk-themed track that has become one of the most listened to songs of the artist on Spotify.
