Hannah Phillips (born 11 December 1999[1]) is a British politician, activist, and YouTuber currently serving as a member of the Lymington and Pennington Town Council[2]. She is the first openly transgender member elected to the council, beating all 3 Conservative incumbents during the 2023 United Kingdom local elections[3].
Phillips began uploading videos to YouTube in 2015, under the moniker HannahPhillipsReal[4]. She would go on to use this platform to engage in activism for the transgender community, becoming known for her "Transgender Topic" series. Further, she has engaged in activity promoting local change, calling for additional unisex toilets throughout the New Forest[5].
She began taking hormone blockers in 2016, utilizing the NHS Gender Identity Development Service[6]. She was quoted as saying that she does not believe there is anything doctors may have said to prevent her from beginning hormone treatment.
Phillips has spoken out against various hateful comments and threats procured against her, both prior to and following her election[7][8]. In a comment to Pink News, she remarked that she receives 'vile' comments on a daily basis[9].
