Biography

Hailey Benedict was born May 10, 2002, in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. She began singing, playing guitar, and writing songs as a child and in 2013, at 11 years old, her original song, “My Sweet Alberta Home,” was a finalist in the All-Alberta Song Contest.[6]

In 2014, she was awarded the Fans' Choice Award at the Country Music Alberta CMAB Awards.[7]

Benedict was named the 2016 winner of the Country 106.5 Star Search competition. She received a professional recording session and airplay on radio station CKVG-FM / Country 106.5, located in Vegreville, Alberta, Canada.[8] That same year she was the Youth Winner (13-17) for the Global Country Star Search Awards[9] and was also named a 2016 Global Woman of Vision Award recipient for her work with local charities.[10][11]

She received international attention when she was brought on stage at the age of 14 to perform an original song during a Keith Urban concert at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, on September 16, 2016.[12][13][14] Urban posted the video and commented on the experience on his Facebook Page the following day: “EDMONTON - firstly, u guys were INSANE FUN!!! And what a phenomenal venue - ROGERS PLACE is officially BROKEN IN! And I wanna say a HUGE THANK U to Hailey Benedict who blew us away tonite!!!!! I LOVE YOU ALL – KU."[15]

Benedict was the Grand Winner of the 2017 Big Valley Jamboree ATB Homegrown talent competition in Camrose, Alberta, earning her the opportunity to perform on the main festival stage, opening for country headliners Chris Young and Jason Aldean.[16]

She received the 2019 Edmonton Music Awards Rising Star honor (18 and under) for her song, “Crazy.”[17]

On March 20, 2022, Hailey Benedict was awarded Horizon Female Artist of the Year and Horizon Single of the Year, for "Wanted You To," at the Country Music Alberta CMAB Awards in Red Deer, Alberta.[18]

"Wanted You To," Benedict's debut radio single, was produced by Dan Davidson and released to Canadian country radio in 2021. CIXM-FM / XM-105, Whitecourt, Alberta, called the song "a passionate and catchy anthem that celebrates being in a relationship with someone who appreciates you for who you are."[19] "Wanted You To" went on to become the highest-charting independent CANCON single by a female artist in 2021, reaching #25 on Mediabase and #27 on the BDS Country chart.

On September 10, 2022, Hailey Benedict won the Canadian Country Music Association Award for Interactive Artist or Group of the Year.[20][21][22]
