HTLF Bank (Heartland Financial Inc.) is an American bank holding company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and incorporated in Dubuque, Iowa. It is the parent company of Arizona Bank & Trust, Bank of Blue Valley, Citywide Banks, Dubuque Bank and Trust, First Bank & Trust, Illinois Bank & Trust, Minnesota Bank & Trust, New Mexico Bank & Trust, Premier Valley Bank, Rocky Mountain Bank, Wisconsin Bank & Trust, and PrimeWest Mortgage. It is on the list of largest banks in the United States by assets; as of August 2023, it is the 94th largest bank with $20 billion in assets.[1]
History
In 1982, the Board of Directors of Dubuque Bank & Trust established a bank holding company, Heartland Bancorp, to give itself more flexibility in raising capital and allow it to enter new fields, such as multi-bank ownership.[2] In 1991, Heartland Bancorp changed its name to Heartland Financial USA, Inc. The company was listed on Nasdaq in 2003.[3][4][5] Heartland Financial USA, Inc. rebranded as HTLF Bank in 2021, and moved its headquarters from Dubuque, Iowa to Denver, Colorado.[6][7][8][9]
