Gregorio Napoleone (born August 1964) is an Italian businessman who is co-founder and executive chairman of Stirling Square Capital Partners,[1] a pan-European private equity firm focused on the international expansion and transformation of mid-market businesses.[2][3]

Early life and education

Napoleone began his higher education studies at Columbia University in New York in 1982 before transferring to Università Bocconi in Milan in 1983, where he completed his studies in Business Administration, with a thesis on leveraged buyouts.

In 1991, he was selected as one of 40 European executives to participate in the Executive Training Programme in Japan (ETPJ),[4] an 18-month scholarship-funded program focused on Japanese corporate practices and approaches to business excellence at Sophia University in Tokyo.[5]

Career

Napoleone began his private equity career at Bankers Trust in Milan, where he worked from 1989 to 1991.[6][7] He returned to Bankers Trust in New York in 1994, having spent c.2.5 years in East Asia completing the ETPJ and working at Ferrero Group as Asia Pacific Area Manager (Finance).[7][8] At Bankers Trust, he focused on private equity transactions in Latin America. In 1995 he moved to DLJ Merchant Banking Partners (DLJMBP) in New York, where he focused on sourcing and executing transactions across Latin America and Europe. In 1999 Napoleone moved to London as part of DLJMBP’s internationalisation effort.[9][10]

In 2000 Napoleone co-founded Tetragon Partners, an independent private equity advisory firm focused on the European middle market, where he worked until 2002.[7]

In 2002, he co-founded Stirling Square Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on mid-market companies with enterprise values between €100 million and €500 million.[11] The firm manages approximately €4 billion in assets across multiple funds and co-investment positions. Napoleone serves on the firm’s management board and selected executive committees.[12][13][14]

Currently, Napoleone also serves as chairman of Omni Helicopters International (OHI), a provider of vertical air mobility and delivery services in Latin America. He also serves as chairman of Isoclima Group, a speciality glass manufacturer headquartered in Italy.[15][16]

Other work

Napoleone is a Trustee of New York University (NYU))[9] and a member of the Dean’s Council at the Tisch School of the Arts.[17]

Personal Life

He is married to art collector and philanthropist Valeria Napoleone.[18][19][20] Together, they advocate female representation in the world of contemporary arts.[21] They are also supporters of inclusion and wellbeing initiatives for individuals with special needs, especially Down Syndrome.[22]
