Greg Lin Tanaka (born January 28, 1980) is an American politician businessman, currently serving as a member of the Palo Alto, California City Council. He is a registered Democrat. Before serving on the Palo Alto City Council, he was a member of the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and the Palo Alto Planning and Transportation Commission. He is also the founder of Percolata.
In January 2021, Tanaka officially announced his candidacy for California’s 18th congressional district.[1]
Early life and education
His parents are of Chinese and Japanese descent.[2] After graduating from Dana Hills High School, Tanaka went on to attend University of California, Berkeley and the California Institute of Technology.[3] He served four terms as president of the College Terrace Residents’ Association from 2006 to 2010.
Career
In 2010, Tanaka was appointed to the Palo Alto Planning and Transportation Commission, where he would serve as the chair in 2015. In 2016, he was elected to the Palo Alto City Council, and would be later reelected to the City Council in 2020.
