The Gotar Rajputs are a lesser-known subgroup of the Suryavanshi Rajput community, primarily residing in the northern region of India, including parts of Jammu and Punjab. With a relatively small population, they trace their ancestry to the revered Atri Gotra and venerate Sukrala Devi as their family deity.[1]

Historically, the Gotar Rajputs were known for their military prowess and bravery, and many of them served as warriors and defenders of their kingdoms. However, in modern times, the majority of the community members are involved in agriculture-related activities, and a significant proportion also hold the position of landlords or landowners.[2]

Despite their small size, the Gotar Rajputs take great pride in their cultural heritage and traditions, and many of them continue to uphold their ancestral customs, such as observing various festivals and performing rituals dedicated to their Kuldevi. Overall, the community is known for its hardworking and resilient nature and has contributed significantly to the agricultural and economic growth of the region.[3]
