Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) is an industrial park spreading over 2970 acres of land and consists of a notified multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) covering 1235 acres and a private industrial park cum Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) across 1,735 acres. The industrial park is being developed by Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited.[1]
Location
The Industrial Park is located at Gopalpur in the district of Ganjam, Odisha, about 157 kms away from Bhubaneswar, the capital city. It is situated at 19.308 North latitudes and 84.897 East longitudes at an average elevation of 8.5 meters above MSL. It is just next to NH-16 which forms part of the Golden Quadrilateral. The nearby port, Gopalpur Port is situated at 14 kms from Gopalpur Industrial Park. The location serves as an advantage to the Industrial Park, being close to all major cities in eastern India along with a proximity to major airports, ports and railway networks.
Demographics
Gopalpur Industrial Park is close to 1 Municipality (Bramhapur) and 2 Notified Area Councils (Gopalpur and Chhatrapur). All the 3 towns are within 20 kms radius of Gopalpur Industrial Park. According to Census 2011, the overall population of the 3 towns is 5,85,632 and the overall literacy rate is 77.40% which is above the national rate of literacy in India at 74.04%.
