Giovanni Liverani (June 1, 1964) is an Italian manager and business executive. He is the CEO of Generali Deutschland, a subsidiary of the Generali Group, one of the largest global insurance and asset management providers. He is also the co-founder of the Italian direct-selling insurer Genertel. In 2019 Liverani was the only Italian citizen among the 100 best managers in the ranking "Deutschland Manager.”[1]
Early life and education
Liverani was born on June 1, 1964, in Udine, Italy. He completed his high school diploma from the Liceo Maffei in Verona, Italy. In 1990, he graduated in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan, specializing in industrial technologies.
Career
Liverani started his career in 1991, and has since been working at Assicurazioni Generali. He started as a development engineer at the head office of Assicurazioni Generali in Trieste. In 1994, he co-founded Genertel, the direct insurance company of the Assicurazioni Generali Group in Italy. He served as a Member of the Management Board until 2006. Subsequently he was Regional Area Manager for Germany and Austria and Head of the Central Europe Unit at Assicurazioni Generali.[2]
Since 2013 he has held various management positions throughout the Generali Group: As Head of Business Performance Management Central Europe, Liverani supervised the insurance business in Italy, Germany and Switzerland and as Regional Officer he was responsible for the insurance business in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa). On April 1, 2015, Liverani was appointed CEO of Generali Deutschland. He has been a member of the international Generali Group Management Committee since 2013.
