Gilly Hope (Middleton) is an English television, radio presenter, and lecturer. She is best known for her work on BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Look North Breakfast.

Life

Hope is best known in the North East of England. She has two daughters and is married to Chris Middleton. She was previously a drama teacher and media lecturer.[1]

Hope is most known for presenting on BBC Radio Newcastle presenting various shows including the early breakfast show. She previously presented on weekdays 2-6 pm. Hope currently presents early breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning at 9am on both BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Radio Tees. After her Sunday show, Hope also co-presents Garden Mania alongside Marian Foster and John Guy.[2] Hope was previously a producer for Metro Radio's Nightowls programme and has also worked for Sun FM.[3] [4]

Alongside presenting music programmes on BBC Radio Newcastle, Hope was previously a travel reporter for BBC Look North, broadcasting live travel updates each weekday morning.[5]

In 2018, Hope hosted the 'Best Place To Work Awards'.[6]

In 2021, Hope was a presenter on local opt-out station BBC Radio Sunderland, which was launched to help the people of Sunderland during the COVID-19 pandemic.[7]
