Ghulam Sumdany Don (a.k.a. Don Sumdany) is a Bangladeshi corporate trainer,[7] author, educator and entrepreneur.[8] He is a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) trainer[9] and the pioneer of soft skills training programs in Bangladesh.[10] He is founder of Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy[11] and also known as the host of a radio program Look Who's Talking.[12][13] Additionally, he worked as a consultant,[14] researcher,[14] emcee,[1][15] & actor[16] and also received a few awards & recognitions for his works.[11]

Early Life and Education

G. Sumdany Don was born in Azimpur,[6] Dhaka, Bangladesh in (1985-06-28)June 28, 1985.[5] He graduated in Media Studies and Communications from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in 2008.[17][3][1] He completed a Facilitation and Training Skills program from the Master Trainer Institute (MTI) in France and was also trained by Trini Amador from BHS Consulting in the United States.[18] He holds certifications in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) training, NLP One-to-One coaching, and Timeline therapy from the American Board of NLP (ABNLP).[11]

Career

Corporate Employee

Don Sumdany began his career as a student at The Daily Star (Bangladesh). After graduating in 2008, he joined Adcomm (Lowe Worldwide) and then Philip Morris International as a regional trainer in 2010.[17][18]

Trainer and Entrepreneur

In March 2013 an anonymous biker gang shot him and robbed his car from Baridhara.[6] The incident caused him to leave his job in 2014 and became passionate in the field of corporate training.[4] He formed a training company[11] Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy in this year.[17][1] He started working for unemployment probem in Bangladesh[1] and became a prominent corporate trainer.[19] His monthly training program involves more than 300 people.[20] He worked for more than 250 organizations,[21] trained a huge number of students[1] and employees of worlds renowned organizations, such as H&M, Marks & Spencer, Grameenphone, Chevron, Perfetti, Holcim, Berger, ACI Limited, BMW, Coca-Cola, Eastern Bank Ltd., Prime Bank Limited, Dhaka Bank, BRAC, WaterAid, Plan International Bangladesh, CARE Bangladesh, Practical Action, JAAGO Foundation, Democracy International etc.[20][4][14][22]

He co-founded an HR outsourcing organization, Ikigai HR services limited in 2020.[14] During the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh, he started a few online training programs and worked for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Bangladesh).[1][23][6]

Educator and Researcher

Don Samdany teaches career-building classes to students at East West University (EWU) and the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) as an adjunct professor.[18] He did research on Communication strategy for Rainwater Harvesting in 2020 and it was published in an international non-governmental organization, WaterAid.[24]

Author

He is one of the author of Bangladeshi magazine Ice Today[25] and english newspapers of Bangladesh, such as The Daily Star[26] & The Indepedent.[27] He also published several books on personal development[28] and business success.[29][30] His written series of pocketbooks were launched as the first overseas book of Bangladesh by a Bangladeshi publisher, BanglaPrakash in August 2016.[31]

Actor and Model

He starred in the film Ant Story (পিঁপড়াবিদ্যা) by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki[32] and also worked as a model for television advertisements.[6]
