Gentlemens Club are an English electronic music trio composed of Saul Mountford (Soloman), Lewis Pittham (Coffi) and Amani Haskins (50 Carrot). The trio formed in 2013 after meeting at a live show in Belgium.[1]

Gentlemens Club was originally formed as a record label for the members to release their solo alias productions, before dissolving the label in 2016 and solely releasing music under the Gentlemens Club imprint.

History

Pre-2016: Formation and prior endeavours

Before Gentlemens Club, Soloman, Coffi and 50 Carrot performed as solo DJs in the early 2010’s. They would often collaborate in their early careers before meeting in 2013 at a live show in Ghent, Belgium.

Following their initial meeting they decided to create a record label in which they could release their respective productions. This was the formation of Gentlemens Club.

From 2013-2016, Soloman, Coffi and 50 Carrot went on to working together exclusively, touring internationally as a package and creating an array of collaborations in which they released on the Gentlemens Club record label.

2016: Merging of the group

In 2016 they were advised by their then current management company to dismiss their solo aliases and merge the three names into Gentlemens Club, solely producing all future productions under the Gentlemens Club brand. This was a defining moment for the trio.

In March 2016 they released “Run Up[2]” , their debut release under the newly merged act.

2016 was the trio’s first look into larger scale touring, making their official USA debut at EDC Las Vegas in June, opening at the Basspod[3]. They then had their debut headline Australia & New Zealand tour in July 2016 performing across 9 cities and selling out multiple venues including Metro City[4]

The trio had a busy schedule for the remainder of 2016 performing consistently across Europe, USA and Australia.

2017-2019: Growth of the group

Between 2017-2019 saw the trio strengthen internally and musically, releasing music across a broad spectrum of labels including Big Beat, Crucast, Deadbeats, Never Say Die & Ram Records.

During this time period the trio performed at leading festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Beyond Wonderland, Nocturnal Wonderland, Origin NYE[5], Countdown NYE, Rampage and Let It Roll.

They also joined multiple international tours, supporting Eptic & MUST DIE! On the Hyperfuture[6] USA & China tours, NSD: Black Label tour, 12th Planet Swamplex Tour[7] and Hidden Australia[8] tour alongside Lil Yachty, Wifisfuneral & Troyboi.

2019 saw the trio progress into a wider range of electronic music, experimenting in Bassline, Drum and Bass, Grime and UK Garage.

Musical style

Originally Gentlemens Club’s style was considerably geared towards the modern day Dubstep sound. Signature songs such as ‘“Little John[9]” and “Ghostride[9]”, which were released on NSD: Black Label are best example of this.

The trio now produce an expansive range of genres including Bassline, Drum and Bass, Grime and UK Garage., their best streaming song being “Money Talk” featuring Que Fieri; an experimental song between the Dubstep & Drum and Bass tempo.

2020 see’s the group further their horizons collaborating with vocalists and experimenting deeper into new sounds and genres.
