Ged Doughton
George Edward (Ged) Doughton was born February 13, 1957. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has two brothers, Mark and Tommy Doughton.
Early Life
Ged attended Richard J. Reynolds High School|Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, North Carolina from 1971-1975. He would lead his high school to victory in the state playoffs in boys basketball in 1975.[1] His brother Mark was on this team.
College Life
He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill|University of Chapel Hill from 1975-1979[2] where he achieved an AB in Political Science as well as played Basketball as a guard for the Tar heels donning the number 23. He averaged 2 points per game in college. [3] He served as team captain his senior year. As well as won multiple awards during his time playing for the tar heels such as the Bud Bennet award, given to the freshman who exemplified determination, sportsmanship and sacrifice for the good of the team and the Foy Roberson Award; Most Inspirational Player Award. [4]
Post College
Ged now works for IFB Solutions serving as the Director of Major Gifts.
He also founded a virtual coaching program called First Easy Pass.[5]
He serves on the board of directors for his nephew's non-profit.[6]
