Gareth Sheridan (born 1990/1991 (age 34–35))[1] is an Irish entrepreneur who is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nutriband Inc.,[2] a pharmaceutical company specializing in transdermal drug delivery systems.

Early life and education

Sheridan was born in Terenure, Dublin, Ireland. He attended Terenure College, graduating in 2008,before enrolling at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). Sheridan earned a degree in Business and Management from DIT in 2012,[3] where he focused on international economics, venture creation, and entrepreneurship. His thesis explored the potential of transdermal technology for delivering vitamins and nutrients.[2]

Career

In 2012, Sheridan founded Nutriband Ltd. in Dublin, Ireland, with the aim of developing transdermal patches capable of delivering vitamins and nutrients through the skin. The company sought to offer an alternative to oral supplements, providing "slow release of nutrients [..] over a number of hours".[4]

Recognizing the broader potential of transdermal technology, Sheridan expanded the company's scope to include pharmaceutical applications. This led to the establishment of Nutriband Inc. in the United States, with its headquarters in Orlando, Florida. Under Sheridan's leadership, the company began focusing on transdermal drug delivery systems designed to improve patient safety and compliance. Notably, Nutriband developed AVERSA™ Fentanyl, an abuse-deterrent transdermal system aimed at reducing the misuse of fentanyl patches.[5]

In October 2021, Nutriband Inc. was listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange,[6] marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth.

Awards and recognition

Sheridan has received several awards. In 2014, he was named Ireland's "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" and Nutriband Ltd. was recognized for having the "Best New Product" that same year. He also received the title of South Dublin's Best Young Entrepreneur in 2014,[7] and led Nutriband to win the award for Best Startup Company.

In 2015, Sheridan was selected as a Nissan Generation Next Ambassador by Nissan Ireland, in which the sponsors gave cars to people who "[have] what it takes to become one of Ireland's future leaders and champions".[1]

As an Entrepreneurial Ambassador for TU Dublin, Sheridan also provides guidance to students interested in innovation, disruptive technologies, and entrepreneurship.[8]

Later developments

As of February 2025, Nutriband Inc. continues to innovate in the pharmaceutical industry.[9] Nutriband’s abuse-deterrent platform technology is patented across 46 countries and territories, covering key global markets. The company plans to submit its application for FDA approval of AVERSA™ Fentanyl in the first half of 2025.[10]

The company received five nominations at the Pharma Industry Awards 2023, including Pharma Project of the Year and Innovation of the Year for its AVERSA™ product.[11]
