G. Sayanna (5 March 1951 - 19 February 2023) was an Indian politician from Telangana who served as member of Telangana Legislative Assembly from Secunderabad Cantt. constituency from 2014 until his death on 2023. He was a member of the ruling party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Before the unified Andhra Pradesh broken, he was an MLA from Andhra Pradesh of the same constituency since 1994 until his defeat to INC candidate on 2009.[1]

Life and Education

He was born on 5 March 1951 in Andhra State, India. He is survived by wife and three sons. He was a graduate student of arts, science and law.[2]

Carrer

Sayanna, a member of the Scheduled Caste caste, has held sway over the Secunderabad Cantt Assembly constituency since 1994, when he first achieved success as a leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In 1999, 2004, and 2014, he went on to win on a TDP ticket.[3]

He joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now BRS) in 2015, and in the December 2018 Assembly elections, he once again prevailed. Dr. P Shankar Rao of the Congress defeated him in 2009. Sayanna won from Secunderabad Cantt on a TDP ticket in 2014, following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, despite a pro-TRS tsunami that swept the state.[4]

Death

Sayanna was hospitalised to a private hospital in this city on February 16 after complaining of problems relating to his heart and kidneys in previous years. 72-year-old Sayanna died after having his treatment.[5]
