Frederick Frahm (born November 8, 1964, in Hemet, California) is an American composer,[1] organist, and parish musician.[2]
Personal life
Frahm is married to Susan Foster Frahm since December 1987.[3] They reside in Placitas, NM.[2] He studied harpsichord with Randall McCarty, composition with Roger Briggs and Gregory Youtz, and conducting with Richard Sparks.[4][5][6][3]
Career
Frahm served parish communities in California, Washington State, Illinois, Georgia, and New Mexico, including St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bellingham, WA and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, NM.[6][7]
In March 2012, the Chatter Ensemble, conducted by David Felberg, presented the world premiere of his song cycle Spaces of Night.[7]
In 2020 and 2021, Frahm composed new organ solos. Most of this music was recorded by organist Carson Cooman, Composer in Residence at the Memorial Church, Harvard University.[8]
Several notable US and UK concert organists have programmed his organ works, including Michael Bonaventure, Alcée Chriss, and Carson Cooman.[9][10]
In 2021, Frahm joined the congregational team at 1517 Media as a production editor.[5]
