Frederic George Etienne Scheer (October 10, 1954), better known as Frederic Scheer, is a French-American entrepreneur and inventor.[1] He is the founder of Interpart, Biodegradable Products Institute, Cereplast, Biocorp, and Alercell.[2]

Education

Scheer completed his MBA from Institut D’Etudes Politiques de Paris (1978) and two doctorates from Law University in Paris Assas and Law University in Paris Pantheon.[2][1][3]

Career

Scheer moved to the US in 1986. In 1987, he became the youngest CFO of an NYSE company.[1][3]

In 1997, Scheer founded the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) remained its CEO until 2010.[4] BPI became the largest biodegradable association globally, with over 40 members, including BASF, DuPont, Georgia-Pacific, NatureWorks, Dow, and Eastman.[3]

In 2001, he founded Cereplast, Inc.,[5][6][7] a company that designs and makes sustainable plastics from starch.[8][9] He held the position of CEO at Cereplast until 2014. He was the CEO of Biocorp, Inc. and the Chairman of the Bioplastics Council of the Society of the Plastics Industry.[10]

In 2017, Scheer founded L6NRG,[11][12] an independent oil and gas company concentrating on US-based oil and gas from the Rockies, where he is currently the CEO and Chairman.[1] Since 2020, he has been the founder and CEO of Alercell, Inc., a biotechnology company.[13][14][15]

Scheer is the co-Chairman of The Scheer Foundation, a private nonprofit organization established in 2006.[16] The organization supports HRDC, a nonprofit agency.[16][17]
