Frankie Chan Sui Fai (born July 29, 1988) is a male idol from Hong Kong. In 2018, he participated in the ViuTV talent show "Good Night Show - King Maker” as contestant number 7. He made to the top 30 before being eliminated. Later, he joined the boy band MIRROR. His fans are called "Peibobo" (meaning Frankie's baby).
Career
Frankie Chan was born in Hong Kong on July 29, 1988. He attended St. Joseph's Primary School and graduated from Chung Wah Middle School..[1] In 2018, he participated in the ViuTV talent show Good Night Show - King Maker as the 7th contestant. Although he was eliminated in the top 30, he was invited to join the boy band MIRROR as a dancer and vocalist on 1 November of the same year.
Frankie Chan is recognized as appealing character in the group members of MIRROR. He was recommended to join MIRROR by ViuTV artist agent, Angela Hue, who was impressed by his good looking. Despite the group artist manager Ahfa Wong's initial impression that Frankie was low profile, she thought he was very handsome when she saw him on camera and decided to sign him up as one of the group member.
Because he has made many surprising and memorable quotes during interviews and TV appearances, he is recognized by his bandmates as the master of quotes. He is loved by his fans as a result.[2]
In 2022, he played a self criticism character called Never in the ViuTV series drama In Geek We Trust.[3]
After recovering from the tragedy of the concert in July 2022, ViuTV decided to broadcast TV series drama Into The Wild as the restart of Mirror back to audience. Frankie was one of the main characters named "Ngan Ka Tung" who is a professional tutor and Judo player. He learnt and practised Judo for over 2 months to deepen into the vibe of the character[4]
During the beginning of 2023, Frankie was mainly involved in the group song and shows. Right after his birthday on 29 July, a breaking news released that he challenged himself to be the main actor of a musical drama "The Final Call:929G" which preformed at the Grand Theatre, Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon [5] from 16 September 2023 to 24 September 2023. The musical ended with a great success with many compliments from creditable actors/directors [6].
Personal life
Lead vocalist of bands Supper Moment and Tat Dik Lun (IronTree), Chen Sze Chuen is a high school classmate of Chan. Both of them studied at the prestigious Direct Subsidy Scheme school, Chung Wah Kornhill Secondary School, located in the Eastern District of Hong Kong. Former TVB artist Vicky Chan (formerly known as Chan Wai Kei) is Frankie Chan's cousin[7] and was also a primary school classmate of singer Hubert Wu. Chan studied for a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University during his university years.[8]
Before his music career, he was a dancer and had danced as a backup dancer for various artists.
