Frank Wilson Jr. (born c. 1985) is an American college football coach. He is the Associate Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Nickels Coach for the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).[1]
Coaching career
Wilson began his coaching career in assistant and analyst roles before focusing on special teams. He held staff positions at the Houston Cougars and Old Dominion Monarchs covering defensive and special-teams duties.[2]
In 2022 Wilson served on the North Carolina Tar Heels staff as Special Teams Coordinator / Analyst under head coach Mack Brown.[3]

In January 2024 Wilson was hired by Tennessee Tech as Associate Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Nickels Coach. [2][1]
Publications and recognition
Wilson authored a football history book titled One Game at a Time: A Brief History of College Football.[4] The book has been well received by media personalities and coaches.[5]
During his tenure at Norfolk State, Wilson’s defensive backs were cited in The Virginian-Pilot for ranking among the top statistical performers nationally, highlighting his role in developing one of the country’s most effective secondaries.[6]
In 2024 Wilson was named a finalist for Football Scoop’s FCS coordinator of the year award, making him the only special teams coordinator to ever be named a finalist.[7]
