Frank Bayard (born 11 October 1971 in Püttlingen in Saarland) – German Roman Catholic priest, a manager by trade and the 66th Grand Masters of the Teutonic Knights.

Early Life

Bayard was born on 11th of October 1971 in Püttlingen, West Germany. He was educating to become a banker. Later begun to study in the fields of management and european economy at the private university Wissenschaftliche Hochschule Lahr in Konstanz (currently Allensbach Hochschule), where he acquired the tile of Master of Business Administration.

Teutonic Order

In the year 2000 he joined the Teutonic Order. He ordained on 22nd of July 2006 at the hands of Friedrich Wetter, archbishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. In the years 2001-2008 he was studying philosophy, theology, history and Health Care Management at the universities of Vienna and Innsbruck. In 2006, he was chosen to be the General Councillor of the German Brethren Province. Beginning in may 2008, up until August 2018 he was the general economist of the Knights. In 2015 he became a vicar in Gumpoldskirchen (Austria).

Bayard was chosen as the 66th GrandMaster and the Abbot of the Teutonic Order on 22nd August 2018, replacing Bruno Platter. His motto is Noli timere – meus es tu (Do not fear - you are mine).

He was present on 15th of July 2020 at the 610th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald.
