Forty-one Fifteen is a music recording studio located at 4115 Gallatin Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. The historic bungalow in which the studio operates was purchased by Dewey Boyd in 2012. The studio opened its doors on October 19, 2012 founded by Dewey Boyd, Jeff Braun, and Taylor Bray.[1] The studio has recorded several notable artists including Lainey Wilson, Billy Strings, Muscadine Bloodline, Switchfoot, Marc Scibilia, The Arcadian Wild, and others.
History
The building was first built in 1924 as a residential home. It is a 2,468 sq ft house that occupies a 0.49 acre lot in East Nashville, Tennessee.[2] In 2002, the house was purchased by Platinum Financial Group, Inc. and used as the mortgage broker's main office until 2012. In May of that year, Dewey Boyd and his wife Natalie purchased the building[1] to convert it into a music studio.[3] Jeff Braun, Dewey Boyd, and Taylor Bray opened Forty-one Fifteen in October of 2012 and it continues to operate at the same location today.[4]
Today, Forty-one Fifteen is listed as a recording studio, writing room, and video location that attracts artists in search of the historical atmosphere of the early 20th century bungalow.[5]
Notable Recordings
In 2016, Lainey Wilson recorded her second studio album, Tougher[2] at Forty-one Fifteen with producer Frank Foster and engineer Dewey Boyd.
The Alabama-based Muscadine Bloodline recorded their 2016 single Porch Swing Angel at Forty-one Fifteen with engineer Ryan Youmans.[6] In fact, the album cover for the song shows the front porch swing of the house at 4115 Gallatin Pike in which the studio operates.[3]
Singer/songwriter Marc Scibilia recorded two tracks (Sideways[7] and Better Man[8]) from his 2016 album Out of Style with engineer Dewey Boyd at Forty-one Fifteen.
In 2021, The Arcadian Wild recorded their Covered: Beneath Another Sky album at Forty-one Fifteen with engineer Dewey Boyd as well as a series of live performance YouTube videos: I. Spring: Wake [LIVE][4] II. Summer: Walk [LIVE][5] III. Fall: War [LIVE][6] and IV. Winter: Will [LIVE][7]
In 2023, Lindsay Lou released her album Queen of Time containing songs Nothing's Working, (featuring Billy Strings) and Rules, both of which were recorded at Forty-one Fifteen with producer Dave O'Donnell and engineer Dewey Boyd.[9]
Live Video Footage
Forty-one Fifteen cultivates a YouTube presence of live videos filmed in the historic rooms of the house on Gallatin Pike.[8] Countless artists have captured their music on video in the studio; among them are The Arcadian Wild, Colony House, Ellie Holcomb, Lindsay Lou, and many others.
