Early life
Florian Breuer was born on January 30, 1997[1], in the Lendersdorf district of Düren. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Nuremberg, where he grew up and developed an early interest in sports, especially canoe slalom.
Sports career
Beginnings and rise
After winning several German championship titles in the student sector, Breuer moved to Augsburg in 2009 to take advantage of the first-class training facilities at the Federal Training Center for Canoe Slalom and White Water. As a member of the Augsburg Kayak Club, he was named "Sportsman of the Year" by the Bavarian Canoe Association in 2011. At just 15 years of age, he qualified for the German U18 national team in 2012 and took part in world and European championships in this capacity.
Achievements and recognition
In 2013, Breuer won his first individual international medal at the European Junior Championships in Bourg Saint Maurice, France. The following year, 2014, became a turning point in his career as Breuer won the Junior World Championships in Sydney, Australia, securing his first world title[2]. These remarkable achievements earned him nominations for the German Sports Aid's Junior Athlete of the Year[3] and the World Paddle Awards' "Young Paddler of the Year." He was also the youngest competitor at the 2014 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Deep Creek, USA. In 2016, Breuer set another milestone by winning the U23 World Championship title in Krakow, Poland. With a total of 15 international medals at World and European Championships, Florian Breuer is one of the most successful young athletes in canoe slalom.
Health challenges
Despite his impressive athletic career, Breuer was confronted with health problems in 2018 that seriously jeopardized his career. Despite intensive efforts, he was unable to fully return to his previous performance. Postponed Olympic Games and a complicated rupture of the left collateral ligament finally led him to end his active career in 2021.
Current stage of life
After the end of his active sports career, Florian Breuer moved to Berlin. There he now devotes himself to his role as Creative Director and Managing Director of DAS WORKOUT n'CM GmbH[4], a company that specializes in investments and participation in ventures in the sports, fitness and creative industries.
