Fiona Gilmore FRSA MA Cantab is a former consultant who specialised in brand positioning, communications strategy, corporate identity, innovation, and internal communications for companies, countries, cities, and regions.[1].
During the 1980s, Fiona served as a member of the Milk Marketing Board and contributed to the development of GCSE Modern Languages as part of the working party for curriculum reform[2].
Alongside her professional pursuits, she dedicated significant time to charitable work, serving as a Trustee for various NGOs. Her contributions included roles with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), WaterAid, the United Learning Trust, and CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education).[3] She is also is an Honorary Bencher of the Inner Temple Inns of Court[4].
Fiona’s consultancy career included advising global corporations such as Vodafone, Unilever, and Lloyd’s[5]. She became Managing Director at Michael Peters and Partners before co-founding the brand and design consultancy Springpoint[6]. Under her leadership, Springpoint expanded into an international consultancy and was later acquired by IPG[7]. Fiona subsequently left Springpoint to establish Acanchi, where she worked in socio-economic development and positioning[8]. During this time, Fiona advised governments, public and private sector organisations, and NGOs across Asia, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa. Her focus during this time included innovations in alternative fuels[9].
Focus on the Green Energy Transition
Since 2019, Fiona has worked on advancing promoting an offshore meshed grid that integrates offshore wind energy with onshore infrastructure located at pre-industrialised brownfield sites close to demand[10]
She has presented extensively to the UK Government, Members of Parliament, and National Grid, advocating for a model based on the advanced planning systems of other European countries.
