Field Roast is an American food manufacturer based in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 1997 by brothers Richard and David Lee. The two bothers started out by making a vegetarian "meat" loaf and since then has divulged into other meat and dairy substitute items.
Field Roast Sausages are made the same way as a traditional meat-based sausage by using traditional techniques. Field Roasts starts by grinding the grains ("the meat") with the fresh vegetables. After this processes they add in the flavors, spices and other additives.[1]
History
In 1997, the Lee brothers started Field Roast in Seattle, WA as a vegan "meat" loaf company.[2] Throughout the years, the company has reached major league baseball stadiums, like the Mariners in 2011. Field Roast became the primary meat substitute for the stadium.[3] Then in 2015, Field Roast announced their new vegan and dairy-free cheese slices under the name, Chao Creamery. With this new addition the company won the VegNews Company of the Year.
Following their awards in 2017, Field Roast came out with the vegetarian and vegan living cookbook. The book is comprised with stories and recipes for the vegetarian and vegan cooks.[4] In 2018 the Field Roast Grain Meat Co. announced that they were going to be joining the Greenleaf Foods Family.[5] In 2020 Field Roast launched five new vegan cheeses under Chao Creamery.[6] Field Roast has many variations of the their meat substitutes, in 2021 Little Caesars|Little Caesars Pizza became the first American company to use their "Planteroni" on their pizzas.[7] Weinerschnitzel added Field Roast's Meatless Hot Dog to all of their locations (327), across 10 states in 2022. Weinerschnitzel is said to be the largest hot dog chain in the world. The signature hotdog is made of pea protein, brown rice, fav bean protein, and double smoked.[8]
