Festus Adebayo [1] (born April 4, 1967, in Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian Housing Advocate and Founder/Convener of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS).[2] [3]
He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Housing TV Africa, a satellite television channel focused on housing and construction issues.
Education and Professional Affiliations
Adebayo attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife[4] where he obtained Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Political Science and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Hons., and the University of Lagos, where he studied Masters in Business Administration, Economics. He is an honorary fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners [5] and holds memberships or affiliations with professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Architects, the Nigerian Institute of Building, and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
Career
Adebayo is the founder and convener of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), which has been described by BusinessDay (Nigeria) as Africa’s foremost platform for housing innovation, policy dialogue, and investment in the construction sector. [6]
Over its 19-year history, AIHS has facilitated more than $10 billion in investment and drawn over 40,000 participants from 21 countries. [7]
He[8] is a member of federal government of Nigeria committees, including the National Housing Data Committee [9] and the Federal Government Committee on Institutional Reforms of Housing Agencies. He is also a member of the Federal Government of Nigeria Sustainability Committee on Housing, tasked with delivering two million houses across Nigeria’s 36 states.[10]
In 2015, Adebayo co-organized the Canada-Nigeria Housing Expo in Toronto and has participated in World Bank conferences on housing finance and land reforms.[11]
In 2024, the Legislature of Ontario, Canada, recognized Adebayo’s efforts as Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Logan Kanapathi said he is playing a role in strengthening economic ties and creating platforms for meaningful dialogue.
