Feluda Pherot is a 2020 Indian suspense Thriller film [1] directed by Srijit Mukherji.[2] It is based on Satyajit Ray's two novels Chhinnamastar Abhishap and Jawto Kando Kathmandute.[3][4] It was released on Over-the-top media service platform Addatimes.[5] It stars Tota Roy Chowdhury, Anirban Chakrabarti and Kalpan Mitra in the lead roles.[6][7]

The first look of Feluda Pherot was revealed on 31 December 2019.[8] On 2 May 2020, on the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray, Sandip Ray inaugurated the opening music of the series on online.[9][10][11] It has a total of 12 episodes. It has 2 seasons: Chhinomostar Obhishaap and Jawto Kando Kathmandute. Each season was shown in six episodes.[12]

The first poster of the series's first season Chhinomostar Obhishaap was released on 7 November 2020. Later, it was initially announced that the trailer would be released on 16 November 2020.[13][14][15] However, on 15 November 2020, actor Soumitra Chatterjee died and Addatimes postponed the release date of the trailer to 21 November 2020.[16][17][18] On that day, the trailer of the first season, Chhinomostar Obhishaap and the next day the trailer of the second season, Jawto Kando Kathmandute, was released.[19][20]

The first season was released on 25 December 2020[5] and the second season was released on January 2021.[21]

Plot

Srijit Mukherji initially made the web series about the story of Chhinnamastar Abhishap and Jawto Kando Kathmandute.[22] The story was purchased from Sandip Ray, the son of Feluda creator Satyajit Ray and the director of most Feluda films, series.[11]

Chhinnamastar Abhishap

This plot is written in the background of 1977. Feluda, played by Tota Roy Chowdhury, Topeshranjan Mitra, also known as Topshe, played by Kalpan Mitra and Lalmohan Ganguly, also known as Jatayu, played by Anirban Chakrabarti, go on a holiday to Hazaribagh, they give a lift to a man on the way. The father of the man is Mahesh Chowdhury. He later invited them to his huge building called Kailash. Mahesh asked them to visit the Chhinnamasta temple near Rajrappa at a picnic on the occasion of his birthday. He went there and told Feluda that Mahesh misses his second child Biren, who had left home at the age of 19 to lead an anti-traditional life and had no contact since he wrote his last letter to Mahesh 10 years ago. Mahesh incidentally suffered a Myocardial infarction|heart attack on the hill and sustained severe injuries. Meanwhile, a tiger named Sultan escaped from the Great Majestic Circus in Hazaribagh. They went to the circus and met the original ringmaster named Karandikar. Meanwhile, Mahesh said something in sign when he wanted to talk to Feluda for the last time on his deathbed. Feluda continued to read about his diary and biren's letters. Feluda discovers that family secrets are hidden. Feluda's house was attacked that night. The next day, everyone raided to catch the tiger, the same day the mystery unfolded.[5][23]

Music

The music for this web series was composed by Joy Sarker. On 2 May 2020, on Feluda writer Satyajit Ray's 99th birthday, Feluda was released again with the opening music story of the series in the online presence of director Sandip Ray and musicians Anupam Roy, Rupankar Bagchi and Rupam Islam. The song was digitally inaugurated by Sandip Ray. Directed by Jay Sarkar, the song written by Srijato has been sung by Anupam, Rupankar and Rupam.[24][25] The opening music was published in the background of Satyajit Ray's sketch for Feluda.[26]
